I've been exploring a new idea for a game (yes, yet another one...). I'm not going to detail it now, as I'm determined to scope it out and really think the design through before committing to any lines of code. I have used Godot, and Claude Code, to sketch out a couple of approaches to the game map, but really hope that if I do start writing the game, I won't lean on Claude Code too much.
I'm gathering my thoughts and ideas in a Markdown-based note-taking app called Tolaria. I found it while trying to resist the urge to code (or vibe code) such an app myself. I've been using it extensively at work. It's under heavy, active development, but it's increasingly clear that it's being developed largely through an AI agent. There are bugs which are marked as closed but are easy to reproduce, and I fear the developers are relying too heavily on automated development and automated testing, and not enough on the human element.
Maybe I'll feel the urge to write my own note-taking app one day (but would it be so terribly different from all my aborted CMS projects?). As for my new game idea - watch this space?
